Description
A Biofilm Tea Bags for Small Shrimp Colonies
Biofilm Tea Bags are an excellent supplement for smaller shrimp colonies with nutrient-rich ingredients that promote biofilm growth—a natural food source your shrimp can enjoy between regular feedings or while you’re away.
When used as directed, Biofilm Tea Bags will not foul your water and beneficial in mature tanks, where natural biofilm becomes scarce as your shrimp population increases. They’re also ideal during the cycling phase, especially in tanks with inert substrates or non-ammonia-leeching soils, helping establish a stable environemnt.
Biofilm Tea Bags are designed for supplemental feeding only and should not replace your shrimp’s primary diet.
HOW TO USE BIOFILM TEA BAGS
*For use in invertebrate only tanks
Prepping for In-Bag Long Term Feeding
Soak tea bags in RO / RODI water with an air-stone for 7–10 days changing out the water every 2–3 days. Lightly squeeze out excess water at the end of the duration. Afterwards, bags are ready to use for tanks. Tea bags will have a pungent smell due to the biofilm.
For Aging During Cycling
When cycling or preparing a tank with no livestock, use 5 grams per 10 gallons laid out in a pile on top of substrate. Set sponge filter nozzle above the water level to cause the water to bubble like a bubble bath. Recommended to keep the water line about 2.5–3” below the top of the tank. Sponge filter will also get clogged. This is all normal. Let the tank sit for at least 4 weeks for the active ingredient to wear off for the tank to mature. If the bag floats, gently squeeze to release air (squeezing too hard may pop the bag and make a mess). Biofilm growth will be noticeable around the tank and on the content itself.
Preservation and storage
Store unused bags in a dry/dark place to maximize their shelf life (2 years).
