Red Galaxy Snowflake Breeding Group (2F+2M)
The Red Galaxy Snowflake Breeding Group is a captivating variety of Caridina. Their primary feature is a vibrant red base color adorned with intricate white or translucent patterns resembling snowflakes or frost. The red coloration can range from a deep crimson to a lighter cherry red, while the snowflake pattern varies in density and distribution across individuals.
The snowflake pattern is characterized by irregular, often interconnected white or translucent spots and patches that create a lace-like effect over the shrimp’s carapace and abdomen. This pattern can vary significantly among individuals, with some displaying more prominent white markings and others showing a more subtle, delicate pattern.
Like other Caridina species, Red Snowflake shrimp possess a slightly curved rostrum, well-developed eyes on short stalks, and long, sensitive antennae. Their walking legs (pereopods) often display a lighter red color with hints of the snowflake pattern, while the swimming legs (pleopods) are more transparent. Males are typically smaller and may have less intense coloration compared to females. Mature females develop a more rounded abdomen to accommodate eggs, which are often visible through the semi-transparent shell.
Red Snowflake shrimp thrive in conditions similar to other Caridina species, preferring soft, slightly acidic water and a varied diet including high-quality shrimp food, blanched vegetables, and biofilm.
Acclimating new shrimp before you put them in the new tank is essential. Wait until the TDS of your tank and the water they come shipped in are matched.
