Metallic Boa Shrimp require pristine water conditions to thrive. Their ideal environment includes a pH of 5.5 to 6.2, a general hardness (GH) of 4-6, and carbonate hardness (KH) close to 0 to maintain slightly acidic water. The temperature should be kept between 68°F and 72°F (20°C to 22°C). These shrimp are highly sensitive to water quality, making stable conditions crucial. A low-light tank with a soft substrate and plenty of plants or mosses is recommended to encourage biofilm growth and provide hiding spots.
Diet plays a critical role in maintaining their health and vibrant coloration. A balanced diet of high-quality shrimp-specific food, mineral-rich supplements, and occasional blanched vegetables is essential. Metallic Boa Shrimp are best kept in species-only tanks or with other peaceful Caridina varieties to prevent stress. Due to their sensitivity and rarity, they are recommended for advanced shrimp keepers with experience in maintaining consistent water parameters.
