Description

Green Rili Shrimp

The Green Rili Shrimp, a Neocaridina variant, is popular among shrimp enthusiasts for its bright green and translucent body, creating a striking contrast and unique appearance. Unlike other Neocaridina shrimp, which can sometimes have solid colors, the Green Rili’s green color is accented by transparent segments, making it a standout addition to a freshwater aquarium. Green Rili Shrimp are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced shrimp keepers.

To maintain the health and coloration of Green Rili Shrimp, a stable environment with slightly alkaline, moderate-hardness water is ideal. The recommended pH range is 6.5 to 7.5, general hardness (GH) between 6-8, and a temperature range of 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C). They are more forgiving with water parameters than Caridina species, but regular water changes and low nitrates are essential to avoid stress and health issues. Green Rili Shrimp do well in a planted tank setup, where plants and moss encourage biofilm growth, which they graze on as part of their diet.

Feeding Green Rili Shrimp is straightforward, as they will thrive on a varied diet of quality shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional algae wafers. Being social, they are best kept in groups, and they are compatible with other peaceful Neocaridina shrimp or small, non-predatory fish. Green Rili Shrimp breed readily in stable conditions, making them a great choice for keepers looking to establish a self-sustaining shrimp colony.
